I went to a very strict high school where it was completely normal for your top button on your skirt to be spot checked to ensure it was fastened just under your boobs, your messy bun asked to be fixed into a tight pony tail and your shoes ordered to be re-laced so that they were actually tied up instead of having them fitted like you just rolled off the half-pipe. For me, my shoes were a constant target ... my yellow stitched doc martens which were two sizes too big and were able to be slipped on and off like ugg boots were boss. NO I WILL NOT DO THEM UP!

I wish Dion Lee's latest lookbook for Line II was around back then because Imogene Barron's styling would have totally solved my problems with high school authority. I am suddenly inspired to strip the laces from my boots and train myself to walk without being a public nuisance. 99 problems but laces ain't one!

Oh and the new collection is ok too.

You know those weeks where you have about a billllion things to do...well that is what my next week is going to be like. Thanks uni, really appreciate it. So instead of doing what would seem the sensible thing and use the weekend as a bit of a head start to get some work done, I am going to enjoy what I have of my weekend and do everything but be productive. I started with a trip to the farmers markets this morning where I stocked up on fruit and vege, a rhubarb & pear cake to assist with my slight hangover tomorrow, fresh falafel and sooooo many rasberries. I then grabbed a soy latte, got dressed in my Rachel Gilbert leather tee and sat down to crack the pages of the Elle Collections Guide to Spring Summer 2011 which I bought 2 days ago and have refused to open until I had some time to enjoy it.

Much like my brain, the SS11 colour palette lacks order and is in a state of chaos. While we are comforted and inspired by nostalgic/retro hues, we are also desperate to celebrate the intoxicatingly bright. Colour combinations are unpredictable and experimental - key word: CLASH!!

Is it a cruel coincidence that when I woke up this morning and started working my way through my "Daily Fashion Clicks" tab that I stumbled across this Balenciaga ad from Vogue Italy? Stop taunting me!!

However, it seems that the renegade team at Etro weren't quite ready to follow the elegance rules assiduously, exhibiting a collection exploding with colours and textures in bold combinations. The Etro girl refuses to go unnoticed and I am suddenly questioning the viability of the phrase 'less is more'.

If you follow me on twitter you would have known that a little while ago I was lucky enough to win an AMAZING Deadly Ponies Mr. Nightowl bag from online store Final Episode. If you were to ask me my favourite leather label DP would be at the top of my list so it was an absolute dream come true. Mr. Nightowl hasn't left my side since the Beautiful team at Final Episode sent it and I couldn't have survived Thailand without him. In his short life he has rode through Phuket on a motorbike, shopped his heart out in Bangkok, sat on the beach with a mojito, fed the elephants and been the best airplane companion.

So my internet is back up to speed! Thank god for that - I was minutes away from driving into uni and sitting in my car in the parking lot with my lap top (sadly I have done this before!). So my little sister Katie from Fade to Grey was lucky enough to go and attend NYFW - I am only slightly jealous and bitter. I had mixed emotions as I received continuous photo updates of her adventures through WhatsApp though was very excited when she said that she was about to head over to see the new Pamela Love collection. As regular VC readers would know style icon and minx Christine Centenera makes a regular appearance. There is of Miss Centenera's looks that has always had me particularly mystified and chomping at the bit for a similar knit jumper...

First was cult trend of wearing your jacket on your shoulders making the use of arm holes a thing of the past - but this - this flips that on the head by appearing to use only a sweaters arms. HOW ON EARTH WAS I GOING TO GET THAT ON ME?

So after recently publicly confessing my love for newest 'it' girl Harley Viera Newton, you can only imagine my excitement when I saw that she is the latest of the fashion elite to be targeted by The Coveteur. I think they were spot on with the description of Harley's closet as being a 'collection of jealousy inducing items' - I AM JEALOUS AS SH*T! The mix of vintage and new age is nonpareil. I will definately be on the hunt for some statement round shades and bold jewellery on the cheap when I hit Thailand (which is in 5 days yay!).

I will admit, Harley lost a few points with her confession that she is a cat person, but given my bizarre obsession for putting Vegemite on everything I eat recently, she regained these when I found out her kitty's name is Marmite - Legend!

Everytime I lay by big eyes on a Celine totes a go a little shakey, I think this size and colour may be my favourite of the lot though. Oh and those Illesteva 'Frieda' glasses - needed STAT!

Ok so I was thinking the other day how captain bizarre-o it is that as a kid I did not own a single Barbie doll. Hey don't get me wrong, I would oo and ahh over the perfectly pristine, groomed and well-endowed toys in their packaging at the shops, but I was much happier playing with my troll dolls and funky My Little Pony I renamed Harley. It left me wondering... if I didn't spend my childhood dressing my Malibu Barbie then where did my fashion obsession start?

I found the answer to that question today when I discovered DJ/model/coolest fucking chick alive Harley-Viera Newton - it was there all along! You see, I can see a mint condition Alexa Chung and think yeeeh that chick definitely has some serious style but it is the rough, raw, fun and edgy Harley-Viera Newton's of the world that inspire and get me hot under the collar! She is obviously my super cool My Little Pony reincarnated...

So anyway I have been looking everywhere trying to hunt down the perfect one and came to the realization that I am one picky biatch, even when it involves something as simple as a knit sweater. I think I may have found a winner...

It seems that the blogging world has been doing all it can in the last month to tear me away from being the blogging nerd I strive to be. From Christmas to New Year, coupled with a crazy amount of work and no internet access, it seems like an eternity since I got to lose myself in cyber space. Suddenly that is the least of my worries with the devastation which is literally lapping at my doorstep and tearing apart my beautiful city. There has already been so much tragedy caused by the floods and it is absolutely heartbreaking knowing that all we can do is sit and wait for the worst. My heart is with everyone in Queensland and I am so thankful that everyone I know and love are safe at the moment.

On a lighter note - my uni is underwater! How...upsetting. Oh and mummy is making me cocktails...not much else to do, bring on the mojito's!

One thing is for sure...I'm proud to be a QUEENSLANDER!!

You know what I have realised in the last week...life without constant internet access is NOT fun. However this has only been a minor speedbump in an otherwise fun and festive week...everyone is so happy, loves it!

I hope you all got spoilt like you deserve! I know I did, not only can I not put down my new camera (it is AMAZING) but I started my day off with the food that is on the top of my food pyramid...GINGERBREAD!

ummmm, I'm sorry is this a joke? A Proenza Schoeler satchel has long been on my wish list but unfortunately the price has been a little bit a barrier to achieving this dream. Then one of my favourite bloggers at Because I'm Addicted alerted me to the web-exclusive Mochila wallet available for only $145!! What sucks is that I have been searching for the perfect wallet since I lost mine nearly a year ago and now that I have found it I can't afford it...humbug.

Let's hope the turquoise lasts long enough online for me to scoop it up post Christmas! Check it out here.

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there was a girl who, on Christmas morning, became the proud owner of a beautiful crystal encrusted black plasteramic Toywatch. She was the happiest girl in all the land until one day it vanished! She searched high and low for the prized possession but it was never to be seen again. Some rumour that the Wicked Witch stole the watch out of jealousy, though history proves that it most likely disappeared because ~~Loz~~ the girl is hopeless and loses everything, ugh.

Yes, I lost it...what an hopeless chick! I have been trying to replace it for months but am hunting the exact same one...an apparently difficult task. Actually I should rephrase that. I was hunting the exact same one until I took a peek at the new Missoni collaboration with Toywatch...
